The air is getting chillier and the wind is getting stronger, but downtown Fargo has plenty of options to warm up the heart. In the coming weeks, Fargo will be bursting with options for different holiday markets and craft festivals to support local artists and businesses and spread some Christmas cheer with the whole family.
There are several markets and fests coming in the next few weeks, all of which have free entrance and are family friendly. Some to…

There are now several apps that attempt to do the same thing as Last Pass, the password manager, has been doing for the last several years. I have spoken about this piece of software before. It is, in my humble opinion, the best software for protecting your passwords. The reason for having a password manager like Last Pass is because you CANNOT have the same password for all of the sites you visit in a given day. You CANNOT use a password like “12345678” for all of the web sites…

As we transition from Fall to Winter in Fargo, it can be easy to sit around the house and say, “there’s nothing to do.” It is easy to fall into that type of thinking, especially when we just had a mild fall that gave us an opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Now, with temperatures in the teens and fresh snow on the ground as I write this, it would seem that our time spent outside is on the shelf until late March – if we’re lucky.…

I’ve been playing board games ever since I can remember. I grew up with 3 brothers playing games whenever we had any free time and to keep ourselves busy on long car rides from Kentucky to Grand Forks. Over the years, my enthusiasm grew and I challenged myself with deeper games. In the early 2010s, there was a revolution in the board gaming industry and the variety of board games exploded. For the upcoming holiday season, I thought I would share…

Your operating system to be exact. That is Microsoft’s job. It is a tough job but Bill Gates signed them up for it many years ago. But Microsoft only supports each version of Windows for so long. For example, Windows 7 is currently in “extended support” until January 14, 2020, after which Microsoft will no longer support it. Here’s what that means.
When Microsoft stops supporting a version of Windows, Microsoft stops issuing security updates for that operating system. For…

The last time a mixed martial arts event was held in Fargo, local MMA fighter Mariah Prussia headlined the card. Now, nearly three years later, Prussia finds herself on the other side of the business as her company, MPX Promotions, presents Fight to Unite at the Delta Hotels by Marriott this Saturday night.
It is Prussia’s debut as a fight promoter, and even though she has been involved as a fighter, there is a learning curve that comes with promoting an…

There are some issues in the arena of American political discussion that draw significant controversy and generate a lot of ill will between people. One of the first that leaps to mind for most is abortion. Ever since the controversial precedent set in 1974 by the United States Supreme Court with Roe v. Wade, the subject has been a point of contention that has inspired vitriol and sometimes even violence, helped decide elections, and become a battlefield in the American culture wars. …

FARGO – The introduction to Winona LaDuke’s Hemp and Heritage Farm describes how the world stands at the intersection between two paths.
“One path is well worn, scorched and leads to our destruction. The other path is new, green and leads to mino-bimaadiziwin (the good life).”
LaDuke, a lifelong environmental activist, founder of Honor the Earth, and two-time Vice Presidential pick for the Green Party, is also a writer, and she’s speaking about her book “The Winona LaDuke…

According to the Valley City Times Record, during the fall of 1903 a barn outside of Litchville became a hot topic of conversation and was reputed to be haunted. During the previous winter Olaus Anderson, a local farmer who lived a few miles outside of Litchville succumbed to asphyxiation by coal gas. Coal gas was also known as “town gas” and contained high levels of Carbon Monoxide. Unfortunately natural gas wasn’t regulated in the US until around…
By Josette Ciceronunapologeticallyanxiousme@gmail.com What does it mean to truly live in a community —or should I say, among community? It’s a question I have been wrestling with since I moved to Fargo-Moorhead in February 2022.…
